Most of the time when I’m designing I have a general idea of what I want the finished product to look like and just let it evolve but sometimes I know exactly what I want. The idea of the Gardern Gal Top hit me one afternoon. I knew the exact shape, stitches and colors I wanted so in a few hours I had one whipped up exactly the way I wanted it (that almost NEVER happens!).
For this top I used Mary Maxim Fresh (#3). It was my first time using this yarn and I really liked it. They have lovely colors, the yarn is very soft and has a slight sheen to it.
The Garden Gal Top comes in three patterns one for girls, one for women and one for plus sizes. I wanted this pattern to be a good patter for beginners so I used very simple stitches along with an easy construction and only a little seaming at the shoulders. Most testers rated the skill level at an advanced beginner and thought it would make the perfect first garment.
