Unchained Tunisian Hat Pattern Review

A while ago my friend Becky of Grammys Creations posted a picture if a hat she was working on. I noticed it looked a lot like a knit hat but she said it was Tunisian. I’ve tried Tunisian here and there so when I think of it I think thick and bulky. Which is fine if that’s what you’re going for but she also mentioned it not only looked knit but it felt just like it too. I was intrigued so I asked if she’s do it in my son’s size. She basically said she would as long as I tested the pattern so of course I said yes.

I can’t give too much of the secret away but once I saw where she was going with the pattern it was like a light bulb went off in my head. It was so much fun to try! The pattern is easy to understand. I’ve done a little Tunisian but and not skilled at it at all so I’d say a beginner would still be able to figure it out like I did.

The pattern comes in 4 sizes toddler, child, teem/small adult and large adult. When I put it on my son he wasn’t too happy about taking pictures but he loves his new hat. He wears it every time we leave the house. My husband even commented how cool it was (yeah, he knows the difference between knit and crochet).

Becky is currently working on other designs with this new technique and I can’t wait to see what she comes up with! I’d love to try it again on a larger project.

If you’d like to give this hat a go you can purchase the pattern from Ravelry by clicking HERE or from Craftsy by clicking HERE.
