Yesterday I made some crochet hook covers!
Over the years I have bought “SEVERAL” hooks with clay handles. My problem is they always have a TON of clay on them. It makes them heavy and almost hurt my hands more than without the covers. I bought some hooks and clay a long time ago and finally got around to making them. Not too bad, right?
What you’ll need
- A crochet hook
- I’m a Boye girl but you could use the hook of your choice. You could even use bamboo if that’s what you prefer.
- Polymer clay in the colors of your choice.
- I used Sculpey III.
- You can also use some clay tools but I just used an old knife and a rolling pin my kids had for Play-Doh.
I followed this wonderful video tutorial by Yolanda Soto Lopez. Be sure to check out her You Tube channel HERE.
Since I didn’t want a huge handle I just added a very small amount of clay (a little goes a long way!). I would suggest lightly sanding the hooks after you bake. If you work down to a super fine grit paper, you’ll get a nice smooth surface. I need to pick up some sand paper today to do mine.
