Daien Forrest is the lovely lady behind the Beloved Yarn. I asked her to tell me a little about her business and this is what she said:

I’ve been knitting for almost forty years, and it’s always been a somewhat guilty pleasure. A few years ago I decided to focus my time on things that made me happy, instead of what I thought I should be doing. I ended up leaving Hawaii to travel in Europe, and was gone for a year and a half. I lived out of a small suitcase, and my yarn and needles had valued space, so plenty of friends ended up with handknit items. That’s made all the difference, and I’m now extraordinarily happy. I love knitting, and color, and living quietly with simple luxuries. I’ve always enjoyed dyeing up my own yarn and handspun, and decided to start a business to see what would happen. I take inspiration from the beautiful place where I live, as well as memories and photos of where I’ve been. Sometimes there’s just a desire to see what will happen mixing up different dyes. I recall reading another dyer who wrote, “There are no ugly colors.” That inspires me too!

Now through the end of the month (March 2017) you can use the code BELOVEDSQUIDS to get 15% off your purchase HERE.

At Beloved Yarn you can find yarns for $22 – $94. She dyes in batches of 5 skeins so they are all original one of of kind creations! She also sells hand-made reindeer antler buttons and stitch markers made by fripperies & bibelots. Browsing her site my top three yarns were Sunberry, Night Kitchen Revisited and Flowering Moss.

Daien believes that if she’s going to take the time to transform string into wearable goods, using the finest materials available is the only way to go. Therefore she has sourced her luxurious yarn from well established mills, where the consistently high standards of quality include protecting the environment, the farmers and herders, and the very beautiful animals where the fiber comes from. She also dyes her yarn to the most exquisite and vibrant palette imaginable!

Daien has been kind enough to offer a month long coupon code for KT and the Squid readers! Now through the end of the month (March 2017) you can use the code BELOVEDSQUIDS  to get 15% off your purchase HERE. She has also offered to giveaway a skein of yarn which I will post on Monday (So keep an eye out!).

Thanks so much Daien for being this month’s featured indie dyer! Be sure to stop by her sites and say “Hi” for me!
