I designed this shawl for those beautiful striped yarns out there. The Doty Shawl is asymmetrical and starts with just s few stitches. I love how the stripes get thinner as the shawl gets wider. The great thing is you can use any yarn and any appropriate size needles.

What you’ll need:
Any weight yarn
- For the sample I used 1 skein (220 yds) of Cascade North Shore Prints in Princess. You’ll want to use more than 1 skein if you want a larger shawl to wrap around you.
Appropriate size needles
- I used size 6/4mm circular needles.
The shawl pictured is about 42″ long and 18″ at the widest.
K = knit
K2tog = knit 2 together.
Yo = yarn over
This simple shawl starts with just a few stitches and will get wider as you knit
You can make the shawl as long as you’d like
For my sample I slipped the first stitch of each row in pattern.

Row 2 and all even rows: Purl
Row 3, 7 and 9: K1, yo, k to end.
Row 5 and 11: K1, *yo, k2tog; repeat from * to last st, k1.
Repeat rows 6-11 to desired length ending on a right side row.
Block and weave in ends.
