Have you seen Furls Odyssey hooks are now available in smaller sizes? I’m tend to stay away from anything smaller than a 3.75mm because they are a bit difficult for me to manage and keep even tension with. That’s why I got really excited when the kind people at Furls let me try a D/ hook. I’ve also had my eye on Red Heart’s Sizzle for a while so I came up with this little coin purse.

Size
Approximately 3” tall by 2.75” wide.

Red Heart Sizzle (100yrds: #2 thread)
1 spool Parakeet (color A)
1 spool Grey (color B)
Hook
US D/3.25mm Furls Odyssey hook (or any appropriate hook for your yarn of choice)
Notions
7mm/3.75” purse clasp
Yarn needle

After round 5 base measures 1.5”
After round 9 base measures 2.75”
Notes
Please read all instructions before beginning.
This coin purse is worked in the round, do not join at the end of each round with 2 strands of thread held together.
Use a stitch marker to mark the first stitch of each round.
To change color work to the last step of the last stitch before the color change, complete the stitch with the new color.
You will only need 1 spool of each color but because you will need to hold 2 strands together you’ll either have to use 2 spools or unwind about 60 yards.
Abbreviations
Ch = chain
Sc = single crochet
Shdc = spike half double crochet
Special Stitches
Spike Half Double Crochet (Shdc): Yarn over, insert hook into st indicated 1 row below, yarn over, pull through all loops on the hook.

Instructions
Use two strands of thread held together throughout.
Round 1: With color A make an adjustable ring, ch 1, work 6 sc in the ring, pull the ring closed, place a stitch marker in the first stitch of the round. (6)
*Move the stitch marker to the first stitch of each round as you go.
Round 2: 2 sc in each sc around. (12)
Round 3: *Sc in the next, 2 sc in the next; repeat from * around. (18)
Round 4: *Sc in the next 2, 2 sc in the next; repeat from * around. (24)
Round 5: Sc in the next 3, 2 sc in the next; repeat from * around. (30)
Round 6: Sc in the next 4, 2 sc in the next; repeat from * around. (36)
Round 7: Sc in the next 5, 2 sc in the next; repeat from * around. (42)
Round 8: Sc in the next 6, 2 sc in the next; repeat from * around. (48)
Round 9: Sc in the next 7, 2 sc in the next; repeat from * around. (54)
Round 10: With color B *sc in the next 5, shdc in the next; repeat from * around. (54)
Round 11: Sc in each st around. (54)
