Notes:

  • Read all instructions before beginning.
This hat is worked in rounds. Do not turn unless the instructions tell you to (you will turn
    your work when making earflaps)
  • The ch2 (also known as the turning chains) at the beginning of each round does NOT
    count as a stitch.
  • Always join to the 1st stitch of the round with a slip stitch and work the 1st stitch of the
next round in the same stitch you joined into.
  • I like to start my hats with a magic ring. If you do not know this technique you may also
start the hat with 3 chs and working the first round into the 3rd ch from the hook.
  • After you have finished the hat you will then make a flower if you want and sew it on.
You can make the flower slightly larger or smaller by using a smaller or larger hook.

Stitch Guide:
Magic ring: Make a large loop with yarn crossing the end of the yarn over the working strand.
Hold the loop with your fingers, insert your hook into the loop and pull up a loop of the working
yarn. Begin the # of chs indicated here. Work the # of stitches indicated in the loop. To close the
ring pull on the yarn’s end.

Double Crochet 2 together (dc2tog): *Yarn over, insert the hook into the fist st, yarn over and
draw up a loop, yarn over and draw the yarn through 2 loops on the hook; Repeat from * one
more time, yarn over and draw through the remaining 3 loops on the hook.

Treble crochet (tr): Yarn over twice, insert hook into the st indicated, yarn over draw up a loop
(4 loops on hook), yarn over and draw through 2 loops on hook, yarn over and draw up through
2 loops on hook, yarn over and draw through the last 2 loops on the hook.
