The sock weight shawl is approx. 72″ long
The DK weight shawl is approx. 60″ long
For the darker sample I used
Squid DK by KT and the Squid (75% Superwash merino/25% nylon; 246yds/100g; 3/dk)
1 skein in Pajama Pants
For the lighter sample I used
Squid Sock by KT and the Squid (75% Superwash merino/25% nylon; 437yds/100g; 1/sock)
1 skein in Tea Cup
Choose a hook with a cord quite a bit larger than you would normally use. For the dk sample I used an L/8mm for the sock weight I used a K/6.6mm
This shawl started with just a few stitches. more stitches are added st the beginning of each row making an asymmetrical triangle.
Each row consists of a return pass.
Ch = chain
St(s) = stitch(es)
RP = return pass
Tss – tunisian simple stitch
Return Pass (RS): Yarn over, pull through first loop, *yarn over and pull through 2 loops on hook; Rep from * across row until 1 loop remains on hook.
Tunisian Simple Stitch (Tss): Insert hook behind vertical bar, yarn over, pull up a loop.
Need a little help? Kim Guzman has a ton of videos HERE!
Row 1: Pull up a loop in the front and back loop of the 2nd ch from hook (3 loops on hook), RP.
Row 2: Tss in the bar just below the working loop, pull up a loop between the 1st and 2nd sts, tss in the next st, leave the last st unworked (4 loops on hook), RP
Row 3: Tss in the bar just below the working loop, pull up a loop between the 1st and 2nd sts, tss in each st leaving the last st unworked (5 loops on hook), RP
Repeat row 3 adding 1 st each row until you are just about out of yarn (you will need enough yarn to finish off)
Last Row: *Tss in the next st and pull through the loop on hook; repeat from * across, fasten off.
Block, weave in ends.
