The Rose Tote Free Crochet Pattern features a simple lacy pattern repeated over 8 rows. Curio #3 adds great structure to this delicate stitch. You can use a ready-made tote to make this a no sew project or make your own lining. For this pattern you will need to know how to chain, single crochet, double crochet and how to work a simple seam. I have included a video tutorial below as well.

Can I let you in on a little secret? I hate sewing! But I don’t let that get in my way of making a great, useful bag. A little trick I’ve used again and again over the years is lining my knit and crochet bags with ready-made canvas totes. It makes the bag nice and sturdy plus it looks professionally made. Of course, if you enjoy sewing you can make your own lining and if you’d like this bag to be an open mesh produce bag you can skip the lining all together and add your own handles.
For this bag I used the Curio #3 which is a crochet thread from We Crochet. I haven’t used crochet thread much but I really like how it worked up for this bag. It give a nice structure and has great stitch definition.

This bag is worked in 2 pieces that will be sewn together. For the sample I used a canvas tote bag as a lining. You can find the bag I used from Amazon HERE.
You can also make your own lining or use other purse straps if you’d like.

Rows 2-24: Ch 1, sc in each st, turn.
Row 25: Ch 3 (counts as dc throughout), dc, *ch 2, skip 2, (dc, ch 1, dc), ch 2, skip 2, dc; repeat from* across, dc in the last, turn.
Row 26: Ch 3, dc, *ch 2, 3 dc in the ch-1 space, ch 2, skip 1 dc, dc in the next dc; repeat from* across, dc in the last, turn.
Row 27: Ch 3, dc, *ch 1, skip 1 dc, 5 dc in the next dc, ch 1, skip 1 dc, dc in the next dc; repeat from * until 1 remains, dc in the last, turn.

Repeat rows 26-33 for a total of 48 rows. You will end on a repeat of row 32.
Fasten off.
Sewing
Sew two pieces together across the side, bottom (starting ch) and second side.
Finishing
Attach purse handles or sew in tote bag as lining.
If using a bag as a lining, insert the tote into the knit bag. You can sew it in with a needle and thread or use fabric glue to attach it. Because the tote will be holding the weight of anything put in the bag, fabric glue should hold it just fine.
