Biscuit Blanket Free Crochet Pattern

The Biscuit Blanket Free Crochet Pattern is a super easy, super quick blanket to crochet. This pattern uses only single crochet and double crochet so it makes for a great project to work on as you watch your favorite shows or movies. I’ve also included a video tutorial which can be helpful if you’ve never worked with fuzzy yarn.

One Saturday morning I was feeling adventurous so I asked my 13 year old daughter to pick out some yarn. For those of you who don’t know she’s the Squid in KT and the Squid. I headed to We Crochet to this page, handed over my computer and told her to pick whatever she wanted. Once she picked a yarn line I told her to pick as many or as little colors as she’d like. She said she had 3 colors so I helped a little and told her how many skeins to order. Having no idea what she ordered (only that it was 3 colors) it was quite the surprise when it came and I opened the box to find Fable fur! I had used this yarn a few times but not in larger quantities. Honestly, it’s something I tend to shy away from.  After talking to the Squid it sounded like she had her heart set on a blanket which totally makes sense. She loves to cuddle up in her bed with all her blankets and draw.

I ended up having to order more yarn and used 12 skeins total. I honestly love how it came out! This was such a quick project too. I started on a Friday afternoon and finished Sunday afternoon and that wasn’t even working on it constantly. It’s funny because while I was working on it each kid (I have 4) came up to me and asked if they could have one too. I’ve already ordered more yarn so I better get to work, haha.

Even the cats loved it! Hence the name Biscuit Blanket. Seriously, if the blanket is in reach it’s biscuit time. Look at that cutie! It took no time for her to get comfy as soon as I put it on the chair for photos.

Below you’ll find the free pattern. I also filmed a video and a little tutorial. Honestly, you probably don’t even need the pattern. If you watch the video I explain how to make it. I will warn you though, if you’ve never used this yarn before it can be a bit tricky. It’s hard because you can’t see the stitches and it’s done mostly by feel. It’s nice because it’s super forgiving and any mistakes aren’t noticeable but if you’re brand new to crochet you might want to hold off on this project until you feel a bit more confident in understanding the anatomy of stitches or maybe pick a super bulky yarn that isn’t as fuzzy.

Gauge (not critical for this project)

I wouldn’t bother with gauge. It’s so hard to see the stitches it’s not worth the effort. Your beginning ch should be around 45” if you want to measure. If you don’t like the size you can ch more or less stitches.
