
Vintage Chevron Blanket Free Crochet Pattern by KT and the Squid
This chevron blanket is easy enough for a beginner and works up quickly. Only basic stitches (sc, dc) are used so it makes the perfect project for those new to the world of crochet.

Sizes: baby (throw, child, twin)
Baby: 28” x 36”
Throw: 36” x 50
Child: 40” x 50
Twin: 45” x 72”
Materials
⦁ J/6mm hook
⦁ Worsted weight yarn (I used With Love by Red Heart; 370yds per skein)
1 (2, 2, 3) skeins in Pewter
1 (1, 1, 2) skeins in Berry Red
1 (1, 1, 2) skeins in White
⦁ Scissors
⦁ Yarn needle
Gauge
1 repeat of the pattern by 8 rows = 4.5” square
Abbreviations
Sk= skip
St= stitch
Sc= single crochet
Dc= Double crochet
Notes
⦁ Read all instructions before beginning.
⦁ You will use 3 colors to create the pattern as pictured. I have labeled the colors A (grey), B (red) and C (white).
⦁ Pattern instructions are written for baby (throw, child, twin).
⦁ You may make this blanket any size by chaining a multiple of 16 + 4.

Instructions
Start with color A Ch 100 (132, 148, 164)
First 2 set up rows:
Row 1 -Dc in 4th ch from hook (skipped chs count as a dc), dc 6, sk 1 ch, dc, sk 1ch, dc 6, *3dc in next st, dc 6, sk 1 ch, dc, sk 1 ch, dc 6; repeat from * across, 2dc in last st. 97 (129, 145, 161)
Row 2 – Ch 1 (does not count as st),turn, 2sc in same st, sc 6, sk 1 st, sc, sk 1 st, sc 6, *3 sc in next st, sc 6, sk 1 sts, sc, sk 1 st, sc 6; repeat from * across, 2sc in the ch 3 from previous row. (97, 129, 145, 161)
You will now repeat the following Chevron pattern below as follows:
1. 8 rows in color A
2. 2 rows in color B
3. 4 rows in color C
4. 2 rows in color B
5. 10 rows in color A
6. Repeat #2-5, 2 (4, 4, 6) more times.

Chevron Pattern:
Row 1 –Ch 3 (counts as a st), turn, dc in same st, dc 6, sk 1 ch, dc, sk 1ch, dc 6, *3dc in next st, dc 6, sk 1 ch, dc, sk 1 ch, dc 6; repeat from * across, 2dc in last st. (97, 129, 145, 161)
Row 2 – Ch 1 (does not count as a st), turn, 2sc in same st, sc 6, sk 1 st, sc, sk 1 st, sc 6, *3 sc in next st, sc 6, sk 1 sts, sc, sk 1 st, sc 6; repeat from * across, 2sc in top of the ch 3 from previous row. (97, 129, 145, 161)
Trim (optional): With color B sc evenly down the straight sides of the blanket.
