This tote is worked using 2 strands of yarn so it works up quickly. A simple lining would be an easy addition but the stitch is so dense you may not even need it. Makes for a great bag to carry around. Give as a gift or make it to sell.

Sizes (Approx. head circumference/ finished hat circumference):

One Size (20”-22”/20”)

  • Circumference is measured at the bottom of the hat.

Notes

  • Read all instructions before beginning.

  • This hat is worked in the rounds from the bottom up. You will sew up the top to finish.

  • The ch 1/ch 2 at the beginning of each round will NOT count as a st.

  • Be sure to pay careful attention to the turns.

  • You will join each round with a ss to the top of the first st of each round.

  • For stitch counts 1 shell = [1 sc, ch 2, 3(2 or 1) dcs]

  • When the instructions say to work into the side of the sc, insert your hook into the left (right if you’re a lefty) side 2 bars of the sc. I have provided a video of this below

Squid Dance Hat Free Crochet Pattern Instructions

Round 1 (RS)Fsc 66, being careful not to twist, join with a ss to the first st.

*size adjustment note: You can make this hat larger or smaller by working a fsc in multiples of 3. By this point the first round should comfortably fit around your head. A bit on the sung side is better than too loose as it will loosen up with wear.

Round 6Ch 1, working in the BLO sc in 1st, ch 2, 3 dc in the side of the last sc worked, skip 2, *sc in the next, ch 2, 3 dc in the side of the last sc worked, skip 2; repeat from * around, join to the beg ch 1. 22 shells

Repeat round 7,  7 more times.

*Size adjustment note: you can repeat round 7 more or less time to make the hat larger or smaller

Round 15Ss in the ch-2 space, ch 1, turn, sc in the same ch-2 space, ch 2, 2 dc in the side of the last sc worked, skip the next 3 dc, * sc in the next ch-2 space, ch 2, 2 dc in the side of the last sc worked, skip the next 3 dc; repeat from * around, join to the beg ch 1. 22 shells

Bob’s! Easy Tweed Blanket (free pattern)

This post contains affiliate links.

This year my goal was to make a blanket for everyone in my family. I made it in at the last second with my final blanket for my dad (Bob!). I wanted to make this one simple and fuss free just like my dad so I let the kiddos pick the colors (I think they did an exceptional job) and I picked a simple stitch. Continue reading Bob’s!
