Kram Cardi CAL: Sneak Peek! | KT and the Squid

Not too long ago I posted on my Facebook page asking what you all would like to see in a sweater for a CAL. The response was HUGE so I hope I was able to come up with a design to please you all!
The Swedish word for hug is kram. I think the name is perfect because I feel like I’m getting a big hug wearing this sweater. I can’t reveal the whole thing yet but here’s what I can tell you.
- It’s a cardigan.
- The yarn is Cascade 220 Superwash. I’ll have amounts for you before the CAL officially starts.
- You can check out colors available HERE. They have a LOT! I used Ridge Rock (874)
- You can purchase from Craftsy, Amazon
, Patternworks or your LYS.
- One lucky participant will win a generous 4 balls when the CAL is complete! I’ll have more details when the CAL starts.
- Sizes: I will discuss how to choose your size before the CAL starts as well.
- Bust: 28”(32”, 36”, 40”, 44”, 48”, 52”)
- Finished bust: 34”(38”, 42”, 46”, 50”, 54”, 58”)
- If you need a different size than what I have to offer you are more than welcome to alter the pattern at your own risk. Please keep in mind I have worked extremely hard on these 7 sizes (which is a lot for a free pattern) and I am unable to advise on how to alter at this time. Thanks for understanding!
- Skill level: Easy
- I used stitches any beginner crocheter should already know.
- Shaping is minimal.
- I added a couple seams but they are very simple. Which makes it a great introduction to seaming!
So…..Are you exited? Well, lucky you because the full reveal and supply list is ready! You can see it HERE.

I am hoping to participate. However, I do not have ability to purchase yarn online and have no local yarn store. So, what weight is the yarn you are using so I can start looking for a comparable one at my local Wal-Mart? Thanks!
Catherine
Excited! !!

You can always jump in late if you need. I’ve done that a few times with other CALs that didn;t line up with my schedule 😉
Jessie
I can’t wear wool, any reccommended substitutes that are not wool? I would really like to make this, I never get to make things just for me!
ktandthesquid
Hi Jessie,
Cascade had some recommendations for those allergic. I am waiting on a shipment from them to see the yarns. I’ll post my findings with the supply list. Hopefully in the next couple days!

What does “KRAM CARDI” mean?
ktandthesquid
It’s just the name of the design, lol.
Kram is hug in Swedish and Cardi is short for cardigan.

I was wondering if we can’t get the cascade yarn is there any other equivalent brand or weight that I could use instead, really wanting to join the CAL because I have mom ever made anything for myself thank you in advance
ktandthesquid
Hey Meghan,
I’m recommending Cascade for this pattern but any weight 4 (maybe a dk) should work as long as gauge matches.
I’ll devote the first week to gauge so you’ll have time to work that out.
Thanks!
Kathy
Please could you tell me what the equivalent type of yarn would be in England?
ktandthesquid
Hey Kathy,
It’s worsted weight yarn. You should be able to get it in the UK but any yarn that is the same weight should work.
Thanks!
MaryAnn Graber
Cant wait to start but hope we can do this in another yarn that isnt wool.
ktandthesquid
Yes! Feel free to try any yarn you’d like (as long as you can match gauge). The first post is up and I have suggested a few others there.

Looks great, where can i buy this yarn in the Netherlands?
ktandthesquid
Hi Inge,
I’m not really sure you can get it…If you can find a nice worsted it should work fine. It might be called something else there.

Looks like fun
